This sculpture experiments with representation and reflects on a diasporic community’s fluidity. As I collected stories from participants, I continually thought about how to disseminate the profound learnings and moments of compassion witnessed during the two intimate conversations shown in the work. I challeged the audience to tolerate a level of discomfort, to take a risk, and even to make a small sacrifice in order to connect with the stories.

Inside the aquarium and the wooden pool are pumps which circulate water between them. The installation creates multiple reflections through projections and ripple effects.

When an audience member climbs atop the ladder, s/he can watch Cascde Voices #4 at an optimal viewing angle.
